Compare and contrast the influence and consequence of European Imperialism on Africa and China during the 19th century. Imperialism is when one country dominates the cultural, economic, and political life of a nation weaker than itself. In the 19th century, Europe was the nation that was dominating both China and Africa. There were quite a few similarities in the way that European imperialism was changing these nations. One important similarity was that both the nations had resisted against British imperialism at one point. Soon, the government had learned about his plans and he went to the west to gather support to overthrow the Manchu Dynasty. He wanted to do this because he believed that China should be a republic otherwise they would fall behind all the other nations. Sun Yat-Sen had created the three principles and eventually these three principles became very well known and soon another uprising which was successful ended the Manchu dynasty. China finally became a Republic. Another major difference between the Imperialism in Africa and China was that China was harder to conquer than Africa because for one, China had a centralized government. This meant that the Chinese would most probably have one large military, which it did. Another reason it was harder to conquer was that it was much farther than Africa was for the British. William Blake and William Wordsworth, poets of the romantic period, wrote poems about London. These two poets expressed how they felt about London about how it was at the time. Blake and Wordsworth create an image in a readers mind of how they saw London, Blake’s image being dim and Wordsworths image is brighter. Blake viewed London as an awful place, and Wordsworth viewed London as a cheerful place. Blake and Wordsworth used metaphors, a setting, and they call attention to the classes of the people to get their message to readers. Metaphors are a attractive way to get readers to keep reading.
